Nerlande Anselme is known for her compassionate approach when dealing with others and for the energy and enthusiasm she demonstrates in everything she does.
As Assistant Superintendent of Student & Family Services in the Rush-Henrietta Central School District for the past eight years, Nerlande is responsible for providing oversight and leadership for student management, student services, and community services.
In this role, she oversees student management, which includes registration and placement, district and school safety, school attendance, student discipline, and character development. In addition, she is responsible for student services, such as counseling, social work, health and wellness, tutoring, special education, English as New Language, and alternative education. Her role also includes oversight for community services, including before-and-after-school childcare, continuing education, Universal Pre-kindergarten, Even Start, and adult literacy programs.
Nerlande previously served as a district administrator and a school counselor at Gates Chili Central School District for nine years. In her leadership role, she oversaw student services, student management, and community programs. As a counselor, Nerlande worked with more than 400 students, providing counseling and coaching to help each student maximize their potential.
Prior to working in public schools, Nerlande joined SUNY Geneseo as an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Counselor and Tutoring Coordinator in 1999. In that role, she counseled and coached students. She monitored their academic progress and helped them access services so they could graduate from college and pursue a productive future. In addition, she provided oversight and leadership of the tutoring services available to them. Her past experience also includes serving at SUNY Plattsburgh as a dormitory director, a role she fulfilled while completing her master’s degree.
When she is not at work, Nerlande remains passionate about serving the community. She is an active member and leader at her church, serves as a leader on various committees in the Rush-Henrietta community, organizes and leads professional development sessions about diversity issues and other important topics, and is a frequent public speaker throughout the region.
Nerlande holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology, a Master of Science in College and Agency Counseling degree, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Counseling from SUNY Plattsburgh. Additionally, she obtained her Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport.
