Kristina Collier is a 2009 graduate of Gates Chili High School in Gates, New
York.
In the fall of 2009, Ms. Collier will be a Freshman at University of Buffalo in
Buffalo, New York. She plans to pursue a Business Major. Meanwhile, she has a
strong passion for fashion and dreams of becoming a Fashion Designer in the
future.
Ms. Collier maintained a high honor roll in Middle and High School while working
and volunteering with community organizations such as: Open Door Mission, Soup
Kitchen, and assisting Inner-City children with various needs. Volunteering
within the community has matured and empowered her to take leadership roles with
other young people.
Ms. Collier in her own words: “So you ask me why I believe I should be a
STAAR Leaders Scholarship recipient and the answer is clear: If you are looking
for a slacker, an undetermined student, a person with no goals, and someone not
going anywhere in life, then frankly, I am not the person you are looking for. On the other hand, if you’re looking
for a student with determination, persistence, drive, character, and a will to
be successful, then there is no other candidate qualified. I was born a leader
and I will be successful in my life. I just need the support of those who
believe in me.”
Well, with that confidence and determination, STAAR Leaders is proud to award
Ms. Collier with the Gladys Nyadua Scholarship to help her achieve her goals.
